9-Year-Old Guadalupe de la Cruz Fights Neuroblastoma: A Story of Strength, Hope, and Community Support

Nine-year-old Guadalupe de la Cruz is a fighter. For the past four years, she has been battling neuroblastoma, a type of cancer, with unwavering determination. Despite facing this life-threatening illness, Guadalupe still finds joy in the simple pleasures of life – she enjoys skating, making ceramics, and playing whenever she can.

One of Guadalupe’s favorite activities is doing her makeup and hair. Even though she has lost all her hair due to cancer treatment, she does it with a wig that a friend gave her so she wouldn’t miss her own hair. This brave little girl is an inspiration to all who know her.

Currently, Guadalupe is undergoing treatment in Spain, but her family has received news that she needs to move to Italy to continue her battle against the disease. The treatment at the Niño Jesús Hospital in Rome comes with a hefty price tag of €316,000, equivalent to just over $270 million.

Despite their best efforts, the family’s fundraising campaigns in their native province have stalled. Now, they are reaching out to the community for help. Guadalupe’s mother, Elba Voragini, shares, “If about 100,000 people can collaborate with $2,000, the necessary amount will be reached.” The family is determined to do whatever it takes to ensure that Guadalupe receives the treatment she needs to beat cancer.

With limited options for treatment in Argentina, Guadalupe and her mother have been in Barcelona for two years, where they have been counting the days to continue with the oncological treatment. The little girl’s diagnosis of neuroblastoma came by chance during a routine visit to the pediatrician, which led to an urgent treatment regimen.

Guadalupe’s doctors suggested a cellular treatment at the Niño Jesús Pediatric Hospital in Rome, Italy, as a potential solution to her refractory cancer. This particular treatment aims to target and eradicate the malignant cells in her body in a more efficient manner.

Despite the challenges she faces, Guadalupe continues to study and participate in virtual classes with her teacher from Santa Rosa, La Pampa. Through various fundraising events and campaigns, the family has managed to raise a significant amount towards the hefty treatment cost. However, they still have a long way to go before they can reach their goal.

With the generosity and support of the community, Guadalupe hopes to undergo the necessary treatment in Rome to achieve full remission of her illness. Every donation, big or small, brings her one step closer to leading a healthy and normal life. To collaborate with Guadalupe, individuals can access the provided fundraising accounts to make a contribution towards her treatment.
