The great thing about this drug is that it achieves the goal of lowering blood cholesterol with only two injections per year.
Inclisiran is a long-acting drug, a long-lasting drug, which is not yet on the market but which may soon arrive. During the experimentation he achieved remarkable results in patients who suffered from atherosclerosis, hardening and narrowing of the largest arteries.
The protagonists of the trial were 300 patients who were given two subcutaneous injections of 300 milligrams each of Inclisiran. The doctors took the injections 6 months apart. One after 3 months from the start of the experimentation phase and the second after 9 months. After 15 months from the start of the study, the researchers found that the value of LDL cholesterol in the patients’ blood had halved.
The advantage of this drug is that it can be used as a last resort in case of poor efficacy of other therapies against hypercholesterolemia. Furthermore, the patient faces a limited sacrifice with only 2 injections per year.
