A scientist prophesies streaming: “Pocket televisions that we will use as the telephone”

by admin

On 9 August 1962, in the Press, on page 4, a prophetic article comes out: “American scientist announces pocket and personal televisions that we will use as the telephone”. Does it remind you of anything? The smartphone that we always carry around?

Yet we are in 1962, fifty nine years ago. What announcement was that? According to the American scientist, “one day everyone will be able to be equipped with a small personal pocket transmitter-receiver that can be connected by radio with a nearby switchboard, to receive words and images from such individual appliances located anywhere in the world. Private television radio will therefore function like today’s telephone ”.

It was the streaming prediction, but done when the Internet did not even exist the word, but only a few predictions on how to connect humanity someday. I found the quotation in a good book, which I have already quoted in this Almanac (The future has always existed, by Edoardo Poeta) which we will still have the opportunity to talk about.
