AMD Introduces Ryzen 5000 C-Series 8-Core 15W TDP Chromebook Processors

AMD launched a new series of Ryzen 5000 C processors with only 15W TDP to satisfy Chromebook notebooks that rely on web services, not only to bring a smoother working experience, and up to 13 hours of battery life.

To put it simply, if the usual work can be done only by the browser, and users who use a lot of Google services, it is relatively suitable to use a Chromebook notebook computer.

The AMD Ryzen 5000 C series processors, using 7nm process, Zen 3 core architecture and Vega graphics core, have 8-core Ryzen 7 5825C, 6-core Ryzen 5 5625C, 4-core Ryzen 3 5425C and dual-core 5125C processors.

As a result, the Chromebook laptop has the first 15W TDP 8-core processor in history, and is optimized for Chrome OS. The internal display can output up to 3 4K screens and increase the L3 cache.

Compared with the previous generation Ryzen 7 3700C, the Ryzen 7 5825C can achieve a 67% performance improvement in the web browsing performance test, a 107% performance increase in multi-core rendering, and an 85% improvement in graphics.

If the Ryzen 7 5825C is compared to the Intel i7-1185G7, it is quite close to a 7% lead in web browsing performance, a 25% lead in multitasking rendering, and a 10% difference in internal display performance.

But another, more important point is that the Ryzen 5 5625C can outlast the Intel Core i5-1135G7 by 94% in terms of battery life.

The security aspect is also based on layers of protection under the Zen 3 architecture. Not only does it support Secure boot, but Chrome Secure Web/OS is managed by AMD CPU and Google TPM to ensure that data is fully protected in the system and hardware.

The HP Elite C645 G2 Chromebook with AMD Ryzen 7 5825C processor is expected to launch in Q2 this year.

Another Acer Chromebook Spin 514 is expected to be available in Q3 this year, a 14-inch 2-In-1 spin model.

It’s just that the Taiwan market’s response to Chromebooks seems to be flat. Whether there will be a new machine in Taiwan eventually depends on the plans of various notebook brand manufacturers.
