These are, in summary, the main actions of the project to strengthen health and social-health services in the Taro and Ceno Valleys district launched by the Local Health Authority. This is a process that began in June 2022 and which last December was presented by the company and district managements to the mayors and administrators of the 16 local municipalities gathered in the District Committee.
“About a year and a half ago – commented the extraordinary commissioner of the ASL Massimo Fabi – we have committed ourselves to strengthening some fundamental functions within the Santa Maria di Borgotaro hospital and in the district territory: today we can affirm that those commitments have been respected”. “The results we have obtained – he continued – the result of a constant and extremely concrete dialogue with the local administrators, were possible thanks to the collaboration between the professionals of the Local Health Authority and the Parma University Hospital, who increasingly work side by side as a single management entity. This translates – concluded Fabi – in the creation of integrated welfare actions, with notable advantages for the territory and, ultimately, for the citizens”.

It was a demanding programming job and not without obstacles, but it has allowed us to concretely strengthen health and social-health services in our realities. However, we must not consider all this as an achievement – continued Riccoboni – but, on the contrary, a starting point for a further strengthening of the healthcare offer in Valtaro and Valceno, which has as its core the unification process between the two healthcare companies in the province. The requests for an enhancement of services and greater continuity of care close to the citizen are essential elements for us to continue working and planning on. We are well aware of the areas in which there is still a need for interventions to meet the needs of the population and – concluded the administrator – we are confident that with targeted and decisive interventions, we can obtain an integrated system that is concretely applicable to needs”.
PROJECTS IN THE TERRITORY
In the context of emergency-urgency, a Fornovo has been active for a few days CAU (Assistance and Urgency Centre) to take care of non-serious emergencies. In addition to this innovation, the service has been strengthened nursing cars, in service now at Varsi, Fornovo, Berceto, Borgotaro and Bedonia.

As for the outpatient specialistthe availability of visits has been increased cardiological, physiatric and geriatric; the dental clinic of Fornovo Health House can now count on new equipment, while it has been active again since last June the dental clinic for disabled patients in Borgotaro. L’endocrinology clinicwill be able to perform the thyroid needle aspiration test directly in the Santa Maria clinics thanks to dedicated equipment.
