Confrontation today between the technicians of the Ministry and the Health Councilors of the Regions. The mechanism should provide that those who no longer have symptoms for a period of time that will be established (48 hours), if the swab is negative (to be carried out in any case in the pharmacy, ASL or by the doctor), they can interrupt the isolation. . But in the evening Speranza slows down. The Regions also requested to review the rules on the vaccination obligation for health personnel and to overcome the daily monitoring of aggregate data, maintaining a weekly analysis

The quarantine for the positive could shorten. The Ministry of Health is in fact working on a new circular to change the system. The novelty emerged today at the end of a discussion with the Regions who also presented some proposals.

To date, the system provides for a minimum 7-day quarantine from the detection of positivity together with a negative swab in order to return to freedom. But given that the new wave of Omicron 5 recorded mild symptoms in the vast majority of the affected population and which were resolved in a few days (in addition to the phenomenon of do-it-yourself tests and not tracked by the official system) from Lungotevere Ripa together with the Regions are thinking about a new mechanism.

According to what is learned from ministerial and regional sources, the system should provide that those who no longer have symptoms for 48 hours, if they are negative to the swab (to be carried out in any case in the pharmacy, ASL or by the doctor) can interrupt the isolation. These strategies are already applied in several Western countries. In Spain and the United Kingdom isolation is no longer provided for positives. In the USA, Germany (with final self-test), Sweden, Austria, there are 5 days of isolation.

In addition, the maximum quarantine time (today 21 days) for longer-lasting forms of disease could also be reduced. The limit could be lowered to 15 days with Regions asking for the exit to take place after 10 days.

The Regions also received a request to overcome the daily monitoring of aggregate data, maintaining a weekly analysis. And among the proposals there was also that of making isolation possible even in specialist departments based on the pathology according to the principles of isolation provided.

But the regional councilors also received a strong request for an overall review of the regulatory system regarding the vaccination obligation for health personnel, “especially in relation to the fact that the conditions and objectives for which the standard was approved in April 2021 (“protect public health and maintain adequate safety conditions in the provision of care and assistance services”) have in fact changed and must be realigned to the current epidemiological scenario “. In particular, the Regions are asked to define promptly all the subjects and structures in which the obligation and the deadline for deferring the obligation for subjects with previous infection are in force, also considering the impact that the suspension of operators determines on the functioning of the health facilities.

Hope holds back. After the anticipations, the Minister of Health, however, slows down: “No change in sight regarding isolation. As always, epidemiological trends will occur and there will be confrontation with Regions”.
