Covid, outbreak in the medical ward of Santa Chiara? Apss: “2 positive patients were found, analyzes are underway on staff”

TRENTO. Covid-19 worries Trentino hospitals again after that 2 positives were found in the Medicine A department of Santa Chiara in Trento among hospitalized patients. The news was cconfirmed by the health company who did know that regarding the health workers are being analyzed.

Today they are likely to come announcements of new updates also to understand if the cases are connected to each other and if therefore it could be a real outbreak. In the meantime, all the hospitalized people (as well as the health workers of the ward) were subjected to a control swab.

It is possible that the new infections that have occurred within the health facility are linked to the so-called Delta variant which, according to the latest studies, it brings with it a viral load from 100 to 1000 times higher compared to the original Wuhan strain. Among other factors it should also be considered that the Delta variant doubled the viral index R0 (contagiousness index) average from 2.5 to 5. As explained by the president of the Italian Medicines Agency and member of the Scientific Technical Committee Giorgio Palù: “This means that a person who previously infected just over two now infects five”.
