‘But anti-contagion measures remain a fundamental answer, shield injections alone cannot solve pandemic’

Milan, 23 March (beraking latest news Salute) – One number: 8.8%. It is “the percentage of people in 46 countries of the WHO European region who have received the first dose of an anti-Covid vaccine to date”. The data from the ‘Vaccine Program Monitor’ was disseminated via Twitter by Hans Kluge, regional director of the World Health Organization (WHO) for Europe, who in a tweet highlights: “There are 82 million people”.

There is still a long way to go to high coverage rates. And, adds Kluge, “as more people are vaccinated and we continue to fight for #VaccinEquity”, for equal access to vaccines “everywhere, basic social and health measures remain the cornerstone of the response” against Covid-19. “Vaccines alone cannot solve the pandemic,” he concludes.
