A 37-year-old man was hit and killed last night in Milan while he was riding his electric bike on the street. The hit car stopped to provide first aid but there was nothing that could be done for him. It happened at 2.35 am in Viale Umbria near Via Pistrucci, in the eastern area of the Lombardy capital. According to initial investigations, the traffic light was working at that moment and therefore one of the two vehicles would have gone through a red light. The 118, who intervened on the spot, could only confirm the death. The driver, a 25-year-old, was reported for vehicular homicide.
According to initial investigations by the local police, the cyclist was wearing a helmet, but it came off in the impact, causing the man to be thrown far away and suffer serious head injuries. Two people were traveling in the car, a Peugeot 206: in addition to the 25-year-old driver, a 22-year-old friend of hers. The car was passing along the avenue that goes towards the northern area of the city, when it collided with the bicycle, which instead entered the crossroads from via Maestri Campionesi. The motorist was transported under green code to the emergency room of the Policlinico hospital.
