The Experts Disavow Prosecution’s Conclusions in the Danilo Molducci Case

The sudden death of Dr. Danilo Molducci, a beloved doctor from Campiano, has been the subject of much speculation and legal proceedings. The 67-year-old passed away in his home on May 28, 2021, and now his son Stefano Molducci and maid Elena Vasi Susma are facing charges of aggravated murder. The motive, according to the prosecution, was fear of being ousted from managing the deceased’s accounts, and the use of drugs to carry out the crime.

However, recent conclusions from experts appointed by the Assize Court of Ravenna have disavowed the prosecution’s claims. Forensic toxicologist Alberto Salomone and specialist in forensic medicine Paolo Fais have stated that there is no evidence to suggest that Dr. Molducci’s death was related to acute intoxication by toxic substances, including the benzodiazepines and amlodipine found in his system.

The experts highlighted flaws in the methodology used to determine the concentration of amlodipine in the doctor’s body, pointing out that the initial methods were incorrect and led to the need for further analysis a year later. They also noted that the benzodiazepines found in Dr. Molducci’s system were within therapeutic ranges, contradicting earlier claims of toxic levels.

These revelations have cast doubt on the prosecution’s case against Stefano Molducci and Elena Vasi Susma, who are set to face trial in June. The conflicting conclusions from the experts have added further complexity to the case, leaving many questions unanswered. The truth about Dr. Molducci’s tragic death remains unclear, and the upcoming trial will hopefully shed more light on the matter.
