Just yesterday, Warner Bros. Games Montreal released a new trailer for Gotham Knights, this time around another Robin character. The trailer itself does a good job of showing Robin’s fighting style, and how it differs from Nightwing, Red Hood, and Batwoman.

Since the game includes four unique protagonists and four unique fighting styles, as part of a recent interview with the developers of Gotham Knights, I asked animation director Lloyd Colaco about the challenges of creating four separate characters and how the team handled that .

“Of course. Absolutely. That’s also one of the things that excites me most about this project. In fact, there is no shared legacy,” Colaco said. “Every keyframe in this game, or every frame of animation is completely new, yes, it’s not just four different characters, but four different fighting styles and different weapons. Combine all of this It’s a blast to get into the fight and how they navigate the city, just shoot with insane flair and come up with choreography and moves that make sense to their personalities, it’s awesome.

Narrative director Ann Lemay went on to add: “How Lloyd’s team has done a fantastic job distilling the essence of each character’s personality and style into their animation, down to the smallest Details, it’s just too much. Just pay attention and keep your eyes on them. You’ll always see something interesting that makes you go ‘oh, that’s that character'”.

“One more thing to add,” Colaco concluded. “I don’t need to convince any stuntmen to do this project. It’s very telling. Wow, are you going to do all these different fighting styles? Sign us up”. That’s cool.
