Self-driving taxi: Ford begins testing in Miami in collaboration with Argo Ai and Lyft. The first models are already on the road, but by the end of the year the fleet will be around a hundred.
They recognize each other because they are Escape (equivalent to our Kuga) full of sensors and a kind of panettone on the roof, actually a hi-tech envelope of computers, cameras and electronic components. The first trips will be free and before embarking on the journey, passengers will have to sign a long letter of “discharge of responsibility and consent”: they will be little more than guinea pigs, but they will have the opportunity to travel for free.
Then, when the service becomes more structured – in 2022 – these Ford taxis will also start running in Austin with a fleet of 1,000 units.
