FreeBuds 4i from Huawei, earphones that know how to surprise

by admin

Are you looking for earphones with an excellent price / quality ratio? Well, the new FreeBuds 4i’s Huawei could be for you. There are four elements that can arouse your curiosity: long-lasting batteries, good listening quality, an active noise cancellation system and, which ultimately has its own weight, the design, because wireless earphones are very visible and therefore if they are beautiful it is much better.

Let’s start with the duration: very often the autonomy declared by the manufacturers is very close to the real one, and it is certain that this changes according to the listening conditions, the ways of use, the habits of the individual listeners, but in this case we must admit that the promised ten hours of continuous listening are essentially true. In the two attempts made, in both cases the earphones have almost reached the full ten hours, indeed in one case they really did. Which, if you add a fast recharge that works very well and therefore allows you to recover enough charge in ten minutes to go on for a good half hour, it means that even a true “heavy user” can find satisfaction, and that the average user has at least two days before the earbuds let go and leave you in silence, using the charging case. Which, however, is fully recharged in a couple of hours via USB-C.

Yes, but how does the music feel? More than good, considering that we are talking about earphones for everyday use, which must therefore have a good audio resolution for phone calls and not cause discomfort when listening to music for a long time. They are not hi-fi headphones, in short, for high definition music services there is definitely a need for better, but for our dose of daily streaming they are just fine, with a good definition of the sound, some lack of bass, but a more than fair sound balance. Which is however enhanced by an active noise cancellation function that works very well, taking advantage of the set of three solutions (double microphone, beamforming that concentrates the wi-fi signal and algorithm), substantially limiting the noises coming from the outside. . The function is activated with a long touch on the rods of the earphones and can therefore be deactivated when there is a need not to be completely isolated from the world.

The FreeBuds 4i are elegant and ergonomic, no doubt about it, not bulky and visible in the ear, they have three colors (red, black and white) and a small charger case. As in the case of the Pro version, it is not always easy to remove the earphones from the case, but it is not a particularly problematic defect. On the case there is the pairing button, very convenient, as in the Pro.

However, depending on the device to which they are connected, they work differently. The best is, of course, with a smartphone Huawei, adjusting everything through the AI Life app. On iOS, however, the app does not yet support, but should be updated quickly, the new earphones, so the ANC may not work and the volume is slightly lower. Connected to a Windows computer as there is no dedicated app, the touch controls are not configurable, while on Android, everything works at its best.

In general, with a price that is around 90 euros, these are very interesting earphones, above the average in that price range, excellent for daily entertainment or even study use if connected to a PC.
