German Bundestag – Union asks for an opinion on Duogynon

Berlin: (hib/CHE) The CDU/CSU parliamentary group has submitted a small question (20/10813) on the status of the legal opinion on the subject of Duogynon announced by the Federal Minister of Health. Duogynon is a hormonal combination preparation that was brought onto the West German market in 1950 and was often prescribed as a pregnancy test. At the time, Duogynon was considered a medical innovation and the first way to detect pregnancy early. But in the 1960s and 1970s, many children were born with deformities whose mothers had been prescribed and taken Duogynon as a pregnancy test. The Union parliamentary group now wants to know, among other things, when the legal report promised by the Federal Ministry of Health in November 2023 will be commissioned and whether representatives of the “Network Duogynon e. V.” should be heard in the proceedings.
