Google I / O is the annual event that Big G dedicates to developers, but which is also of interest to customers and enthusiasts in general: the 2022 edition it opened on 11 May at 7 pm Italian time with a keynote and will end on May 12.
Characterized by significant innovations, above all the announcement of Android 13on which the developers have been able to get their hands since last February, when the Developer preview was released.
The news concerning users goes beyond the operating system and converges towards AI and its application in every product and service signed by Google, as well as a increasingly marked use of augmented reality. We start from the search engine which, with Multisearch, allows you to combine several elements in a question: for example, you can select a photo of a dish and ask Google where it is prepared in our vicinity. A support will be implemented in the coming months immersive view in Mapsthrough which it will be possible to make virtual visits to buildings, for example inside a restaurant where we want to organize a dinner.
There are also news for Google Workspacethe productivity suite that offers automatic summaries for Docs and, later, also for Sheets, Slides and Meet.
In this article we focus on hardware presented during the event, designed by Google to create an ecosystem, an environment in which products and services interact with each other in the most natural way possible. A theme on which the CEO of Alphabet, Sundar Pichai, has focused on several times.

Pixel 7, 7 Pro e Watch
Pixel 6A smartphone presented, which mounts the Tensor processor and the Titan M2 chip for security already used for the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro. A choice that allows Google to offer a device at a price starting at 459 euros. A 6.1 inch Full Hd OLED screen, 6 GB of RAM, an 8 MP front camera and a 12.2 rear camera. Available in 3 colors, it will be available for purchase starting July 21st.
To touch smartphones with your hand Pixel 7 and 7 Pro will have to wait until autumn 2022: very little information released during the keynote, we only know that they will have a new generation of the Tensor and that the body will be in aluminum. More details will be released in the future.
The Pixel Watch, defined by Google’s vice president of Devices & Services, Rick Osterloh, “the first smartwatch built inside and outside of Google,” referring to updates to the Wear 3 operating system that will integrate Fitbit’s health parameters. Price and processor were not disclosed, postponing missing details to the next few weeks.
Pixel Buds Pro
Active noise cancellation, a custom audio chip and multipoint Bluetooth technology to connect the earbuds to two devices at the same time. Instant translation into 40 languages and interaction with the Google assistant will already be available with the release of the product on the market, while for the spatial audio (which will require pairing with a Pixel smartphone) a subsequent update will have to be awaited. The declared autonomy is 11 hours, which becomes 7 by making use of noise cancellation. They will be in pre-order starting from 21 July at a cost of 219 euros.
Tablet
A Pixel tablet is slated for the foreseeable future, albeit not much information was released in this regard: it will be equipped with a Tensor processor and is the demonstration of Big G’s desire to create a hardware ecosystem.
Glasses and augmented reality
They look like normal glasses to all intents and purposes, but they hide an AR soul: designed for simultaneous translations and as an inclusive tool to support the deaf, they are for the moment in the future plans of Google, which has been greedy for details.

Ecosystem, AI and AR
Remaining in the context of the hardware presented during the keynote of 11 May, it is clear the intention to create an ecosystem that allows users to use Google products for every need private or professional. Hardware that allows you to make the most of the services that, in the future, will be increasingly developed around AI and AR. An immersive world which, as Pichai repeated several times, “must not take anything away from the real world”.
