Less than a week after the extension to all workers of the obligation to exhibit the QR Code, the number of new administrations is steadily decreasing. And while the Council of State confirms the legitimacy of the vaccination obligation for health professionals, General Figliuolo invites the Regions to push on the campaign for the booster. However, this campaign seems to be proceeding quite well. To the point that in the last few days the first injected doses have been less than the third ones. Data in hand on Monday to receive the vaccine for the first time were about 47,000 Italians (the previous week they had been 54,000), while the second recall went to about 50,000 people. Similar scenario also on Tuesday: first doses administered 36,915, third doses 55,835.
Green pass, the impact
In other words, that impact – minimal but still significant – that the green certification had had in recent weeks on the number of vaccinations carried out and which had given hope to be able to reach the threshold of 90 per cent of the vaccinated population immunized before half of December and therefore to relax the restrictions. A target that now seems to be moving away. Taking the average of these last two days as good – aware that in all probability it will consolidate downwards – from now on we would continue to administer about 42,000 first doses per day. Therefore, missing 2.5 million Italians to reach the 90 percent threshold, another two months would be needed. Removing the possibility that the end of the year or the beginning of the new one lead without forcing the longed-for slackening.
Unless, of course, it is decided to brush up on the controversial vaccination obligation. After all, just yesterday, the Council of State confirmed the legitimacy of the imposition for health personnel, underlining how this is used to protect not only operators, but also patients and the most fragile people who are hospitalized or go in any case to structures health or social assistance. In particular – by opening the doors to a possible extension of the obligation – it was clarified that this is not based only on the relationship of care and trust between patient and healthcare staff, but also on the more general duty of solidarity that weighs on all citizens. .
Meanwhile, not surprisingly, to try to give new impetus to the administration campaign, the Government tries to accelerate on third doses. So while Minister Speranza says he is ready to evaluate its administration “possibly also for other categories that are out today”, Figliuolo writes to the Regions: “given the current wide availability of vaccine and the persistent high potential for administration”, proceed ” immediately to carry out vaccine boosters in parallel to all the categories indicated, without prejudice to the sole constraint of respecting the time interval of at least six months from the completion of the primary vaccination cycle “.

Faced with the administration of the first decreasing doses, the other side of the coin is the constant increase in the number of swabs carried out by pharmacies and analysis laboratories. On Tuesday in Italy, according to Federfarma, over a million tests were processed, of which about 200,000 are molecular swabs and about 800,000 are rapid antigenic swabs. And two thirds of the latter were done in pharmacies while a third was performed in public facilities. And this is why the Federation of Orders of Italian Pharmacists (Fofi) has asked to be able to keep pharmacies open after working hours and also on the scheduled closing days.
