Lauterbach is discussing hospital reform with local government associations

Delaying the urgently needed hospital reforms is particularly to the detriment of cities and municipalities. They are responsible for many clinics and have to be responsible for deficits. This burden of millions can hardly be shouldered anymore. Without the law, more than 100 hospitals are at risk of bankruptcy in 2024. That is why the Transparency Act must be passed in the Federal Council on February 2nd. This means that hospitals nationwide could receive a liquidity injection of 6 billion euros. Additional, better financing of personnel costs would then follow. And patients would get an overview of which hospital offers which services and with what quality. The Transparency Act creates time and conditions for the draft for the actual hospital reform, which we are currently working on with the states, to be presented as a draft law in February.
