Israel has evidence that among the Hamas militiamen who took part during the October 7 massacres in Israel “there were employees of UNRWA”, the United Nations organization for Palestinian refugees in Gaza. This was stated by military radio, citing information received by the Shin Bet, Israel’s internal security service. Israel has also collected evidence on the ground, according to the broadcaster, according to which, despite being considered a humanitarian organisation, UNRWA has cooperated with Hamas in ”terrorist activities”.
In that context the broadcaster mentioned ”the opening of entrances within its schools which were directed towards Hamas military tunnels, the use of school buildings for the storage of combat vehicles and teaching texts which they glorify the armed struggle”. Meanwhile, today the newspaper Israel ha-Yom reports that the NGO ‘Un-Watch’ viewed internal messages exchanged on Telegram between UNRWA employees on 7 October, while the massacres were underway in Israel. These messages – according to the NGO – include expressions of joy and support for Jihad. This information came in the aftermath of the visit to Israel in which US Secretary of State Antony Blinken urged Israel to provide greater support for humanitarian efforts in Gaza, also making use of UNRWA structures.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken – after meeting the Israeli leadership yesterday – saw Palestinian President Abu Mazen in Ramallah, in the West Bank. On the table, the dossier of the war in Gaza: the US position is known which wants the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) to be involved in the future management of the Strip at the end of the war. According to media reports, Blinken was greeted upon his arrival in Ramallah by protesters who called for “Free Palestine” and “Stop the genocide.” Immediately after seeing Blinken, Abu Mazen will go to Aqaba, Jordan, for a meeting on the same topic with King Abdullah and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi. Gaza “is an inseparable part of the Palestinian state and we will not allow any attempt to uproot our people from the West Bank, Jerusalem and the Strip.” Palestinian President Abu Mazen reiterated this in his meeting in Ramallah with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken. Abu Mazen, quoted by the media, underlined “the need for tax funds to be unfrozen because their withholding is contrary to agreements with Israel and international law”. Abu Mazen also reiterated the urgency of bringing “humanitarian aid to Gaza” and putting an end to the “war of extermination” against the Palestinian people in the Strip.
Meanwhile, an Israeli delegation arrived in Cairo today for a new round of meetings with Egypt for a possible new exchange of hostages. This was announced by an Egyptian source reported by the Israeli media. Egypt, together with Qatar and the USA, is one of the promoters of the negotiations which in the past led to a temporary truce between Hamas and Israel and the exchange of hostages. The Hamas Ministry of Health announced that 23,357 people were killed in the Gaza Strip since the beginning of the war. Hamas also reported 59,410 injuries. Most of the victims, according to the same source, “were women, teenagers and children”. Meanwhile, an Israeli bombing near the Al-Aqsa Martyrs hospital in Deir el-Balah, in central Gaza, killed and injured at least 40 people, according to the Hamas government press office, cited by Al Jazeera. The latest attack comes as Israel has stepped up shelling and ground incursions in central and southern Gaza, with at least 147 people killed in recent days, the Arab broadcaster reports.
