What’s better than enjoying a fresh and light yogurt against hunger pangs? Yet even this food could be dangerous to health.

The benefits of yogurt

All the properties of yogurt are now known. Whether whole or light, white or with fruit, it is the favorite food in many low calorie diets. Born from the fermentation of milk by Lactobacillus and Streptococcus, which are bacteria, yogurt can be consumed for breakfast but also as a snack.

For a greedy version you can prepare bowls to which you can add fresh fruit and pieces of chocolate and so on and so forth. A food that today is also all the rage precisely because of the colorful dishes we often come across on Instagram.

Yet, even though yogurt should be regarded as the healthiest food par excellence, in some cases it is not quite the case. Let’s see why.

Those that contain pesticides

In Italy, surveys have been carried out on various food products. They showed that many products were contaminated with ethylene oxide, carcinogenic and genotoxic fumigant.

The latter is a dangerous pesticide. For this reason, the Ministry of Health has chosen to withdraw from the market foods with a high content of this pesticide that is dangerous to health.

The survey also involved yogurt and related products such as ice creams, sauces, dressings, creams. Also under the magnifying glass veg meat and tofu. The products were reported on July 30th.

About that, the Ministry of Health has released a detailed list, with all the products withdrawn, among which many yogurts also stand out.

Some supermarket chains such as Unes, Esselunga and Penny Market have agreed on the recall as a precaution of batches of yogurt from various brands.

They contained carob seed flour. Specifically, these are some jars with the Mila brand, green tea and ginger flavor, others with the Esselunga Equilibrium brand with chopped fruit, Bontanova branded yogurt pots with pistachio flavor.

The production of these withdrawn yogurts had all taken place from the company’s Bolzano plant South Tyrolean Mountain Milk Soc. Agr. Coop. (identification mark IT 41 7 CE).
