Saronno, vandals in the gym, thefts and bivouacs over the weekend | PHOTO

September, the month of return to school for students but also for vandals. Last weekend some criminals repeatedly broke into the premises made available to the Skating Club from Saronno inside the middle school gym Aldo Moro. Bitter surprise for the owner, Pierpaolo Curti, for 34 years in the city skating club: as soon as he returned from vacation, for two consecutive days he found the spaces turned upside down with ruined wardrobes, stolen or scattered objects, even traces of urine in the cartons. “We took out a few things and closed up the torn cabinets as best they could. On Sunday morning we found the wardrobes again torn and scattered objects. The container of the paper in which they had urinated emptied », says Curti who shared the episode on social networks where dozens of supportive and indignant messages from users were flooded.

“We leave sporting activity also because it is increasingly difficult to cope with the conditions in which gyms are”

For the city skating association the mockery of the vandalism is added to the bitterness of having finished the courses last June: after 43 years of activity the skaters will no longer taxi within the competitive Skating Club which has been replaced by the new association “Italia Skating Saronno”. The painful decision to close came after its founder two years ago Nicolas Cicchitti former athlete and coach at national level – Coni bronze medal for technical value – suffered a stroke. “We continued the business but with the difficulties of Covid it was decided to put an end to the story he created. We went to the gym on Saturday morning just to start removing the material of our association. We leave the sporting activity for many reasons but also because it is increasingly difficult to cope with the conditions in which the gyms are, ”adds Curti who denounced the double vandalism to the police and the Municipality.

In Saronno it is not the first time that schools have been targeted by vandals: last March thefts and riots occurred in the premises of Unitre in the center of the Bascapè school in via San Giuseppe, twice in a week.
