Surprise: Conte continues to grow on social networks, even if he is no longer prime minister

by admin

After a long negotiation, the Movimento 5 Stelle, this weekend, announced the reaching of an agreement with the Rousseau association, and Davide Casaleggio. As explained by the current political leader, Vito Crimi, “the technical transfer operations, for the part relating to user data, took place yesterday afternoon on a regular basis, also in the presence of two forensic experts who certified the integrity and the correspondence of the data collected with those made available by the Rousseau Association “.

Soon it will be possible to hold the online consultations that will definitively elect Giuseppe Conte as leader of the M5S. So then we analyzed his presence of the former Prime Minister on the two main social platforms, by number of users, Facebook and Instagram, from the inauguration of Mario Draghi, on February 13th, to midnight on June 6th.

As for Facebook, over the time period taken into consideration, 59 posts were posted on Conte’s fanpage, equal to an average of 0.51 posts per day. That is about one every two days. All in all, a discrete presence if we consider that the two leaders of the center-right, Meloni and Salvini, are respectively 6 and 9 posts per day on average. Of these two thirds (66.10%) are photos, 16.95% text-only status posts, and 10.17% live video. It is the photos that generate the most involvement. In fact, if, as we have seen, these account for 66% of the proposed contents, their weight in terms of generated interactions, and therefore of engagement, is 78.84%.

Overall, from 13 February to yesterday, Conte’s 59 posts generated 11.2 million interactions, equal to an average of 264 thousand daily interactions, and a daily engagement rate of 5.54%. The highest among the various political leaders of the main parties, given that instead, to have a term of comparison, Salvini’s daily engagement rate stands at 0.67%, Meloni at 1.52%, Letta at 2.03% and Renzi at 0.97 %.

The total number of interactions made 100, of these 67.57% are “likes”, 10.31% comments and 7.25% shares. The incidence of other possible reactions on Facebook sees the manifestations of “love” (emoji “love”) with a weight of 11.26% on the total of interactions, and the hug (emoji “care”) weighs 1.71%. On the other hand, the manifestations of anger (emoji “angry”) weigh only 0.08% and those of mockery (emoji “Haha”) 0.26%.

In short, judging from the data, it is clear that Conte’s followers on Facebook, or in any case those who visit his fanpage, have a sentiment definitely positive towards the 5-star leader.

Speaking of followers, Conte, after Salvini, is the politician with the highest number, reaching 4.66 million followers against Salvini’s 4.88 million. However, the growth in the number of followers is greater for Conte: +58,813 against the + 55,428 of the Lega leader, despite the latter investing in advertisements on Facebook contrary to the former prime minister who has never made promotional-advertising companions so far. After all, even according to the polls, for what they are worth, Giuseppe Conte is by far the political leader with the higher level of satisfaction by the Italians.

In conclusion, a non-invasive presence, without excesses or personalities, as is the case of other political leaders, which rewards the future leader of the 5 Star Movement in terms of involvement and adherence to their messages.

A definitely positive note for the former premier since among all the social platforms Facebook is undoubtedly the most representative of the “feeling” of Italians, being, according to the data available in this regard, the one with the largest number of Italians who use it: 38.2 million monthly active users, equal to a penetration of 87.8% of those who use the Internet monthly

As for Instagram, the substance does not change, even if some differences of interest emerge.

The number of posts is slightly less than Facebook: 47 in total, equal to an average of 0.41 posts / day. That is slightly less than a post every two days. Almost all of these are photos (82.98%), followed by IGTV, the Instagram format for videos longer than a minute, which weighs 14.89%. Photos that proportionally generate greater engagement than videos, accounting for 91.98% of interactions.

Interactions that in the period considered were 4.43 million. Equal to an average of 118 thousand daily interactions, which generate a daily engagement rate of 4.97%. Once again an excellent rate of involvement given that two main political opponents, Meloni and Salvini, are respectively 2.43% and 1.49%.

In this case, however, the growth of followers is weaker: + 11,187. However, better than Salvini who, in the same time span, even loses just under 5 thousand, while Meloni grows more: + 44 thousand approximately, but it must be taken into account that for some time the leader of the Brothers of Italy has been pushing advertising campaigns of ads for the acquisition of followers.

In short, even on Instagram the presence of Conte appears more than solid in terms of involvement and conceptual adherence to the contents proposed by him.
