Valdidentro Climbing Gym Officially Opens in Alta Valtellina
The sporting heart of Alta Valtellina beats faster with the official opening of the brand new Valdidentro climbing gym. This new center, dedicated to climbing lovers and adventure sports enthusiasts, promises a unique experience in a very positive environment.
Located in the former theater of Isolaccia, the Valdidentro climbing gym offers an unparalleled opportunity for climbers of all levels. The facility, equipped with the latest technology and equipment, is designed to offer a variety of vertical challenges, from beginner routes to those suitable for more experienced climbers, to bouldering walls.
The official inauguration, held on Sunday 21 January at 5pm, saw the participation of the mayor Massimiliano Trabucchi, the president of the CAI Valdidentro Pietro Urbani and several climbing enthusiasts but also several locals. “This new structure will significantly enrich the tourist offer of our Municipality – underlined the mayor himself shortly before the official ribbon cutting and blessing by the parish priest Don Giovanni -. Thanks to the fruitful collaboration with the CAI Valdidentro and with the precious support of many passionate volunteers, today we officially open this climbing gym, a unique structure in the Valtellina panorama”.
To underline the result of this fruitful collaboration, the president of CAI Valdidentro, Pietro Urbani, highlighted: “We are really happy that the Municipality has supported the idea of creating a quality indoor climbing gym in the heart of the town. But this is just the beginning: now we must work together to make this structure known to everyone.”
Fabio Merazzi of CAI Valdidentro, who closely followed all the phases that led to this important day and who, with his team of CAI volunteers, will manage the gym in the coming years, also declares himself particularly satisfied: “We are enthusiastic about open the doors of this extraordinary climbing gym in Valdidentro. Our mission is to create a welcoming and stimulating environment for climbers of all ages and levels. For us, it is a dream come true.”
During the event, participants had the opportunity to try out the climbing gym for free, also taking part in demonstrations led by instructors. It is particularly positive to see the presence of a large number of children and young people who, thanks to the activities carried out by the CAI in recent years at the old municipal gym, have approached this sporting practice and never miss the Sunday appointment dedicated to the under-14.
During the month of January, the gym remains open to the public on Wednesdays and Fridays from 5.30pm to 11.00pm and on Saturdays from 5.30pm to 8.00pm. In the coming weeks, all the other planned initiatives will be presented, from subscription packages to courses for children and adults and many other new features.
