Microsoft recently notified users of the OneDrive desktop version that from March 1, 2022, Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 will no longer be able to synchronize files, and the program will stop all updates from January 1, 2022. Users can still manually upload or download files to or from the cloud, but it will be much more troublesome than automatic synchronization in the past.
Even business users are not immune. Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 Workplace users can get synchronization until January 10, 2023, but Windows 8 users no longer support it. Microsoft stated that the above arrangement is to concentrate resources to support new platforms and technologies. Simply put, it is hoped that users will upgrade their computers to at least Windows 10 or Windows 11.
