On February 24, 2023, a tragic incident occurred at the Move gym in Monselice, resulting in the death of 18-year-old student Edoardo Zattin. More than a year later, the Padua Prosecutor’s Office has registered three individuals as suspects in connection with his death.
The suspects include Matteo Zenna and Luca Lunardi, who were the owners of the gym at the time of the incident, and Simone Lazzarin, Edoardo’s martial arts coach. They have been accused of manslaughter by the public prosecutor Maria D’Arpa.
Investigators recently seized cell phones and computers from the suspects, and an expert will be assigned to analyze the electronic devices for any relevant information. The suspects have legal representation and will be able to appoint their own expert to assist in the case.
According to the reconstruction of events, Edoardo was participating in a martial arts training session when he received a violent blow above his left ear, resulting in a fractured skull and internal bleeding. Despite undergoing a brain operation, he was unable to survive the injuries and was declared clinically dead.
One of the suspects, Matteo Zenna, maintains his innocence and expresses willingness to cooperate with authorities in uncovering the truth behind the tragedy. The investigation is ongoing as the legal process unfolds.
