The Grante’s inspection plan for privacy for the first half of 2022 will focus on smart toys, cookies, “stolen” apps, dating sites, data monetization and more generally databases.
The Authority’s verification activity, carried out in collaboration with the Special Privacy Protection and Technological Fraud Unit of the Financial Police, will verify the adequate processing of personal data carried out by dating sites, by operators of the so-called data monetization, by manufacturers and distributors of smart toys. Attention will also be paid to data processed using algorithms and artificial intelligence systems.
But inspections will also cover data managed by database suppliers, cookies used by platforms and websites and, finally, the use of video surveillance systems.
Further investigations will shed light on the correct identification of data controllers and processors in public and private areas, also in relation to the use of apps and other spy applications.
The Guarantor will particularly supervise the acquisition of personal data by apps installed on smartphones, and will monitor the correct processing of data by apps other than “Verification C19”.
