The research was carried out examining the epigenetic effects of tobacco and electronic cigarettes on DNA methylation. The test was carried out on 3,500 samples of saliva, blood and cervical cells to see the impact of smoking on directly exposed areas such as the mouth. The results revealed similar DNA alterations in both those who smoke traditional and electronic cigarettes.
