There is a tick alarm in Veneto. A winter with practically zero rainfall and very high temperatures anticipated the proliferation of insects, with all the ensuing consequences in terms of health risks, even for humans, not just for pets. The bite of this parasite, in fact, is able to convey various pathologies.
This does not mean that we should fall into alarmism, since these are known and absolutely treatable situations. Among these, the so-called Lyme disease, which affects the nervous system and as symptoms presents a high fever and a terrible headache, which arise in a time window between 3 and 20 days from the tick bite.
It is possible to get vaccinated for most of the diseases that are carried by ticks. Furthermore, it is also possible take a number of precautions which reduce the risk of being bitten by ticks.
These include wearing light-colored, opaque clothes and closed footwear, applying insect repellent products to the uncovered parts of the body, avoiding contact with vegetation and sitting on the ground, and do not go into areas where the grass is high at the end of a ‘excursion check the body, including the head and the clothes worn, always treat pets (dogs) with special products against ticks.
