The UK recently certified the first indigenous case of tick-borne encephalitis. A disease caused by a virus transmitted by the bite of these annoying arachnids, which has long been widespread in the rest of Europe, and capable of causing serious symptoms, long-term consequences and even death, in a small, but still not negligible percentage of cases.
