Tracy Police Department Hosts Medication Disposal Event to Prevent Misuse

TRACY, California – The Tracy Police Department is hosting a medication disposal event to help residents safely get rid of unused or expired medications.

According to a statement from the police department, failing to properly dispose of medications can lead to them being stolen, misused, or lost.

The event is set to take place on April 27 at the police agency’s facilities located at 1000 Civic Center Drive from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Residents can bring medicines in their loose form, without needing to be in their original packaging. Cough syrups and liquids should be closed properly, and vaping devices and cartridges should arrive without batteries. Medicines for pets will also be accepted.

The initiative aims to provide a safe, anonymous, and environmentally friendly way to prevent the mishandling or illicit distribution of pharmaceutical products.
