Unlocking the Benefits of Yoga for Children: Mind, Body, and Soul Connection

Yoga for children: a tool for balance and connection

“Yoga is the union of the mind, body and soul,” explains Pamela Shroth, creator of Yupi Yoga for children, families, and educators. Although usually practiced by adults, Shroth emphasizes that there is no exclusive age to start practicing yoga. Everyone can access its tools at any point in their lives.

In children, yoga helps increase self-confidence, security, muscle strength, and flexibility. “Yoga invites them to find solutions to problems, reduce stress and anxiety through play,” adds Shroth.

Yoga for children is suitable for everyone, whether they are calm or restless. Shroth recommends starting at age four and encourages participation in family yoga sessions to strengthen emotional and physical connections.

During the pandemic, mental health conditions in children increased, leading to stress and anxiety. Yoga serves as a moment of presence and natural balance, connecting children with their authenticity. It helps develop self-esteem, patience, and relaxation, essential qualities for life.

Additionally, yoga provides an opportunity to reconnect with nature in a technology-free, fun environment. Postures are taught through games and dynamics, incorporating mindfulness tools for a natural flow.

“Movement happens through games, followed by a relaxing time with tools like aromatherapy, music, and affirmations,” says Shroth. Yoga for children is not just physical, but also mental and emotional, providing a space for balance and connection.
