Vasectomy to not have children: pros and cons

Former Beverly Hills actor, Brian Austin Green, and his girlfriend have made the decision to undergo a vasectomy in order to avoid any further pregnancies and have a “stress-free life as a couple”. The decision was made almost two years ago, shortly after the birth of their son Zane. With Green already having five children from previous relationships, this choice seems to be the most practical for the couple.

Green’s girlfriend, Sharna Burgess, expressed that birth control has always been a source of stress for her, and the vasectomy has provided them with peace of mind and a stress-free sex life. The procedure involves the total or partial removal of the vas deferens, the channels that lead sperm out of the testicles, and is considered a permanent method of contraception for men.

Although the vasectomy is a simple and minimally invasive procedure, it is irreversible and therefore precludes the possibility of becoming parents again without resorting to assisted fertilization. The decision requires careful consideration and ideally involves the partner as well.

While the choice of a vasectomy may not be common, it provides a highly effective form of contraception without affecting sexual performance, desire, or hormone production. However, it does not protect against sexually transmitted diseases and therefore does not replace the use of condoms with at-risk partners.

There are various alternatives for contraception, primarily for women, but some male contraceptives are being tested as well. Ultimately, the choice of contraception is a personal decision that requires careful evaluation and consideration of the risks and benefits. While the vasectomy is a permanent solution, there are other options available for those who may change their mind in the future.
