Thad Starner, one of the creators of Google Glass, the glasses for augmented reality, is working on a smart device that allows you to write messages without typing letters or saying words. Its name is Silent-Speller: it fits into the mouth and reads the movements of the tongue through 124 sensors. The data is then sent to a personal computer or smartphone via a USB cable, but a wireless version is being studied.
