High School Wiligelmo Unable to Use Nearby Gym Due to Logistical and Bureaucratic Reasons
MODENA: The high school Wiligelmo is facing a challenge when it comes to using a gym that is just twenty meters away from the last corridor of the school, due to logistical and bureaucratic reasons. This issue was recently brought to light by concerned parents, who tried to identify solutions to the problem.
The president of the Province, Fabio Braglia, confirmed the situation in a letter sent to the school board after a meeting held on January 23. The classes at the school are forced to not use the adjacent facility managed by Guarini, and are instead sent to the Corassori sports center for physical education due to a lack of funds for transportation.
During the meeting, it was highlighted that planning the construction of a gym adjacent to the high school was impossible due to the absence of a surface of the necessary dimensions. Additionally, the management and funding for buses also presented challenges. The current gym at viale Corassori is assigned to the Guarini Institute, leaving the Wiligelmo high school with limited access to the facility. Transportation to the assigned external gym has also faced issues, as only 15 out of 27 classes have been provided with transportation due to a lack of vehicles and drivers.
Not even an outdoor space for sporting activities is available in the immediate future, as its implementation depends on future ministerial resources. The situation is not expected to be resolved until at least the next school year. This poses a challenge as high school enrollment is approaching, and the chronic lack of space in the city is expected to bring new critical issues.
