Windows 11 File Explorer update coming soon, new home page, tabs and new “favorites” – Qooah

Last month, netizens discovered the highly requested labeling feature in the beta version of Windows 11, and now Microsoft officially announced the feature at the Windows 11 mixed work theme conference. This means that Microsoft will add tags to the Windows 11 file explorer, making it easier for users to find the files they need.

The updated File Explorer allows you to browse the tabs of multiple folders in a single window, as well as move tabs. The feature was first tested in Windows 10 apps and provided support for in-file explorer tabs in a feature called Sets, but Microsoft pulled it off at the time and never made it to Windows 10 users.

Now Microsoft has added a new file manager home page on top of that, with direct and quick access to folders, recent files, and a new “Favorites” option. Users can right-click on a folder to add it to “Favorites” as needed. Improved file sharing options and updated sharing dialogs make it easier for users to send files to applications such as Recent Contacts or Teams, Outlook and OneDrive.

For now, Microsoft is only using the feature as part of an upcoming series of Windows 11 improvements, and the company hasn’t committed to a release date, so it’s unclear when you’ll see the updated Profiler. It is speculated that the updated file manager may appear in the monthly update of the operating system.
