One Italian in five smokes, just over 20% of the population, on average 12 cigarettes a day, but many exceed the daily pack. Yet it is now known that one in three cases of cancer (not just lung) is due to tobacco, which can cause as many as 40 different diseases, including serious cardiovascular and respiratory diseases, erectile dysfunction and impotence.
