Microsoft has adopted a very different approach from its competitors on this generation of consoles. The company focused most of its attention on its Game Pass subscription service and worked hard to make games more accessible than ever through cloud-based technology. Their strategy may have changed, but according to Liz Hamren, Vice President of Game Experience and Platform Enterprise, they are still focused on creating new hardware.
In a Microsoft exclusive event that we were able to participate in before E3, Liz Hamren said: “The cloud is the key to our hardware and Game Pass roadmap, but no one would think that we are slowing down the core game console related projects.” She Continued: “We are already working hard to develop new hardware and platforms, some of which will not appear until at least a few years.”
Who knows what Microsoft might already be doing. This may be the mid-life cycle revision of the Xbox Series, or the long-awaited Xbox 720?
