In the context of a major drug case, 45 house searches were carried out on Tuesday and 22 people were arrested. Three of them are police officers.
This concerns an investigation conducted by the Federal Judicial Police of Brussels, the Brussels West police zone and the Brussels public prosecutor’s office. Following several serious crimes in the drugs environment, including violent crimes, they set up a joint investigation team in February 2023.
This has yielded results, according to a press release. “This joint investigation made it possible to demonstrate the existence of drug trafficking at various levels (from local dealing to import/export) and to suspect the involvement of certain individuals in firearms settlements. The analysis of several Sky ECC telephones revealed the import of cocaine via the port of Antwerp. Some key figures are suspected of trying to export cocaine to England using helicopters.”
On Tuesday, 45 searches were carried out, including in companies, mainly in Brussels and Antwerp. “At this stage, 22 persons were deprived of their liberty, including 3 police officers. During the intervention, money, luxury cars and a handgun were seized.”
