Judicial police officers in the city of Inezgane arrested a man in his forties yesterday, Saturday, March 9, 2024, after he was accused of exposing an elderly woman to fraud, fraud, and extortion.
According to investigations, the man deluded the elderly woman that he had contacts in the Ministry of Justice that would enable him to release her son, who had been sentenced to three years in prison in a theft case. The elderly woman offered him a sum of money amounting to 15 thousand dirhams in exchange for the release of her son, but he continued to blackmail her and asked for more money during the appeal stage.
After coordination with the judicial police in Inezgane, the perpetrator was arrested in flagrante delicto after photographing the amount of money, and he automatically confessed to the charges against him.
It is worth noting that the suspect is considered one of the persons with a criminal record in the field of fraud, and the public prosecutor at the Inezgane Court of First Instance issued his instructions to conduct the necessary investigations and place the suspect under theoretical custody, in addition to conducting a thorough search of his home.
