Tragedy Strikes in Shandong Province: Dozens Injured and 7 Dead in Intentional Car Collision
A horrific incident took place near the entrance of the Anjuyuan Campus of the Third Experimental Primary School in Decheng District, Dezhou, Shandong Province on March 1, 2024. A deliberate and serious car collision resulted in the injury of dozens of children and the tragic loss of 7 lives.
According to a report by The Epoch Times, the driver, identified as Wang Zhengtao from Xintai City, is suspected of drinking pesticide and driving drunk with the intention of retaliating against society. Witnesses at the scene recounted the driver hitting around 40 people, including children, resulting in the deaths of 7 individuals. The driver himself succumbed to his injuries after resuscitation efforts proved unsuccessful.
The incident, which occurred at 13:41 local time, prompted a response from the traffic police of Dezhou City. Wang Zhengtao allegedly drove his black car near the school entrance and struck numerous children, some of whom were sent to the hospital for treatment. Eyewitness Chen Peng described a chaotic scene with injured students crying for help and blood visible on the road.
Chen Peng further detailed the driver’s actions, stating that he initially hit a moving electric car before targeting a group of students. The driver allegedly struck the students, reversed the vehicle, and drove over the injured individuals before fleeing the scene.
Authorities have been criticized for downplaying the actual number of casualties, with locals being more aware of the true extent of the tragedy. The First People’s Hospital was overwhelmed with the influx of injured individuals, necessitating the transfer of patients to the Second People’s Hospital for treatment.
In a shocking revelation, it was disclosed that the driver, a disabled individual diagnosed with cancer, harbored resentment towards society after his state subsidy applications were rejected. This act of retaliation resulted in a senseless loss of life and injuries to innocent bystanders.
