The former mayor De Bon talks about his contacts with the production company “The Municipality of San Vito did not pay a single euro, advertising for everyone”

BELLUNO. The great success of the Cadore edition of Un passo dal cielo did not surprise Franco De Bon. Behind the “move” of the police station from Lake Braies to that of Mosigo is the hand of the former mayor who revealed some curious background that led Lux Vide to choose San Vito as the new headquarters of the fiction. And he told of the immediately clear strategy of involving the entire provincial territory.

“It was the winter between 2019 and 2020 – says De Bon – I was having dinner with my wife at the hotel Ladinia, guest of the owner Albino Peruz and we started talking about the promotion to be done to offer a better future from the point of view. of tourist sight in San Vito. In those days as a municipal administration we were thinking about the possibility of carrying out civil marriages down by the lake and no longer just in the Town Hall. Not everyone agreed but I considered it an opportunity, also from a tourist point of view, which in my opinion should be pursued and for this I insisted. I had already talked about it with the owner of the chalet, with whom in the meantime we had intensified contacts. A few weeks later I get a call. It was Michela, manager of the chalet, who told me: “I have here the scenographers of Un passo dal cielo”. I left everything on the table and ran to the place ».

It was spring 2020. «They revealed to me that they were looking for a new location for a plot already written and defined. They needed a new alternative place to Braies and also a mine (later identified towards the Tre Croci pass). They were also looking for a carpentry useful for the filming. I told him that on our part we were ready to sign. I guaranteed him all the necessary hospitality that same day. I immediately contacted the Cadore Dolomiti tourist consortium which was enthusiastic. Albino Peruz of the Ladinia hotel told me “come here and do what you want”. The guarantees linked to the logistic aspect, in a moment made complicated by the advent of the second wave of the pandemic, were decisive ».

Then how did things progress until we got to the shoot? «The agreement was signed in the presence of the production that went up in San Vito shortly after. There are two very important aspects that deserve to be underlined: the first is that the Municipality of San Vito has not raised a euro to get A step from heaven. The other thing is even more important: I explicitly asked the production, upon ratification of the agreement, not to focus the shooting only on San Vito but to engage the whole province of Belluno. My invitation, also recommended by my friend Albino Peruz, was accepted. The idea of shooting all over the province had a very specific reason: focusing the shooting only on San Vito could have proved counterproductive. After all, the experience of Braies teaches. It is true that tourist presences have increased dramatically but with them also difficulties and problems of an environmental nature. This must not happen, neither in San Vito nor in other places of our splendid territory, for this reason spreading the tourist return, which we are already sniffing in these days, on several sites will help as well as bring benefits to everyone, including the capital ».
