Perhaps a season is about to close in Grugliasco. A season of divisions on the left. The representatives at all levels of the “Europa Verde Piemonte” list open a glimmer of relaxation. Precisely those Greens who for twenty years now, under the aegis of Mariano Turigliatto, have presented antagonistic lists to the Democratic Party and its allies. “After twenty years I would say that it is enough time – says Vito Rosiello, referent of the Greens in Rivoli -, the mayors Mazzù and Montà have succeeded, both for two terms and both grown politically with Turigliatto, now it is time to find unity to the left”.
The fear, without even hiding it, is that of ending up like Venaria, Beinasco and the nearby Rivoli. “We wrote and signed a letter – he explains – in which we ask to reopen the dialogue on the left, clearing the field of past history and putting politics at the center”. In short, no more spite and retaliation, rancor and revenge that have been going on for five decades now. “After twenty years of diatribes between Verdi and the Democratic Party – adds Giuseppe Pepe, councilor of the national federation -, we are ready to listen to the project of the Democratic Party and its candidate Emanuele Gaito”.
«Obviously, to meet one another you have to be two – explains Fabrizio Frosina, contact person for Grugliasco -. Primary? No, I think, we are ready to listen to Gaito’s project, who, being Councilor for the Environment, will certainly be attentive to the issues that are dear to us ». And at that point they launch a proposal that is historic for Grugliasco, given the rashes between the local Pd and Verdi. “We are there and we are open to dialogue – they say – and now we say to the secretary of the Democratic Party, Dario Lorenzoni” call us, invite us to a meeting “”. An opening about which, and they repeat it like a mantra, they talked about and shared the decision with Turigliatto. Almost incredible for those who know Grugliasco. “Will Mariano be there?” I really hope so, “confesses Pepe.
So the intention is to bury the hatchet and smoke the calumet of peace together. And in the letter signed by about fifty Grugliaschesi, they hope to be able to bring the voters back to the polls. «In the past administrative elections – remembers Rosiello – just over 50 percent of the voters went to the polls, very few for a city like Grugliasco which had always registered a high attendance at the polling stations. If anything, if we see a united center-left again engaged in a program that is attentive to the environment and the future of the city, he will again want to participate and come and vote ».
The response of the Democratic Party was not long in coming. “Of course we welcome the invitation – said the secretary of the democrats of Grugliasco, Dario Lorenzoni -, I will call them and we will have a meeting and a chat”. A request that obviously leaves him amazed. «Well, he has something of a revolutionary in Grugliasco – he admits – even if in the rest of Italy coalitions with the Greens are the norm. Will there be Turigliatto? Well, the time has come to bury the hatchet and put aside personalities and stomach aches. It is difficult, for many it is, but I am for dialogue ».
