After floods and canceled flights, rain is forecast

Record rains have wreaked havoc in New York, with flights delayed, cars flooded, and travelers stranded. The city faced more than 3.6 inches of rainfall, leading to chaos in various parts of the city.

John F. Kennedy Airport experienced 487 flight delays and 31 cancellations due to the heavy rains. In addition, flooded cars were left stranded in parking lots with no immediate solution in sight.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a rain alert for New York, forecasting more precipitation for Thursday night as low pressure strengthens offshore. The forecast suggests that the western parts of the city could receive between 0.5 and 1 inch of rainfall, while the far eastern areas might see between 1.5 and 1.75 inches.

If the predicted rainfall occurs as expected, this would mark the fourth wettest March in New York’s history. The NWS also mentioned that the sun is expected to make an appearance on Friday, despite windy conditions with gusts reaching between 25 and 30 mph.

Residents and travelers are advised to take necessary precautions and stay updated on the weather forecast to ensure their safety and preparedness for the upcoming weather conditions.
