The current blockade is being carried out by peasants and Afro people in protest against the agreement that the Petro Government recently signed with the Regional Indigenous Council of Cauca (CRIC), which, according to the protesters, violates their territorial rights.

For his part, the representative to the Chamber for Cauca, Óscar Campo Hurtado, in a session of the First Commission of that legislative cell, made a call to the National Government, urging it to take prompt action in the face of the serious situation that plagues the department. of Cauca with the blockades on the Pan-American highway.

Campo Hurtado expressed his concern about the constant blockages, this time at the Villa Rica toll, by members of the Association of Community Councils of Northern Cauca (Aconc), which generates a harmful impact on the mobility of the departments of Nariño. , Cauca and Valle, with serious economic deterioration and damage to the regional community.

In his statements, Representative Campo highlighted that the situation in Cauca is increasingly critical, with a constant increase in poverty and growing social fragmentation that these types of actions on international channels produce. “Every eight days in Cauca, poverty grows and the department breaks down,” he stated, highlighting the urgency of addressing the most pressing needs of the population.
