Vice President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Malek Agar Air, discussed with the President of South Sudan the security conditions, humanitarian and economic issues in Sudan, the repercussions of the war on the economic institutions in the two countries, and the importance of opening the crossings between the two countries.

Agar explained in press statements following his meeting with Salva Kiir, in the presence of Ambassador Jamal Malik, Charge d’Affaires of the Sudanese Embassy in Juba, and on the part of the Government of South Sudan, Adviser to the President of the Republic of South Sudan for Security Affairs, Lieutenant General Tut Qalwak and the Minister of Presidential Affairs, that the meeting dealt with bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to enhance aspects of cooperation and coordination. Joint cooperation in various fields, in addition to consultation on regional issues of common interest.

Agar revealed an expected summit between the President of the Sovereignty Council and the President of the Republic of South Sudan after Eid al-Fitr.

Tut Qalwak, Advisor to the President of the Republic of South Sudan for Security Affairs, explained in a press statement that the President of the Republic of South Sudan received full enlightenment from the Vice President of the Sovereignty Council on the developments of the situation in Sudan and the repercussions of the war.

His Excellency affirmed his country’s complete keenness to establish security, peace and stability in Sudan and its serious endeavor to find a solution to the current crisis, which has a negative impact on the situation in the Republic of South Sudan.

Tut added that the meeting discussed the issue of the oil pipeline between South Sudan and the Red Sea and the need to speed up the repair of engineering faults so that it can return to service as soon as possible.
