Who is Alexander López, the new president of the Senate?

Alexander López was born in Cali in June 1967. He studied law at the San Buenaventura University in the Valle del Cauca capital, standing out in his first professional exercises given his closeness to politics, which is why since 2006 he came to the Congress of the Republic.

The congressman has specializations in public policy and administration of state social enterprises from the Javeriana University and Tadeo Lozano.

According to a detailed profile in local media in his city, Alexander López began his political career at the age of 19, from Sintraemcali, a union of the Municipal Companies of Cali, Emcali. Then, at the age of 22, he joined the board of directors to become the president of said union twelve months later.

His struggle in this body allowed him to be visible in national politics, which allowed him to reach the Polo Democrático Alternativa party, from which he has been present in the legislative elections since 2002, being a member of the House of Representatives for his department. .

Since that date, he has been in the Congress of the Republic, being a key figure of the leftist movements in Colombia, as is the case of the Pacto Histórico, the current government party.

López, will be key to the development of the reform proposals brought to the political bodies by the presidency.
