UDINE. The Municipality of Udine is ready to convene the conference of services to restart the process that should lead to the development of the Friuli stadium to create a real citadel of sport.

The conditional, after the resolution of the Anac and the threat of Udinese to make another plant elsewhere, is a must, but the mayor Pietro Fontanini intends to follow the indications of the National Anti-corruption Authority which, despite having detected some shortcomings in the execution of the contract between Palazzo D’Aronco and the Juventus club, has in fact given the green light to the 2.0 stadium.

Until a few years ago, after spending 21.6 million for the new Friuli, Udinese, with the contribution of some private partners, was ready to invest another 17 million euros “to make the stadium a place for sport and the well-being of all the people of Udine “. The project had received a first green light from the previous administration and then also from the current majority who had also managed to obtain the inclusion of an asylum. But then, it was the end of 2019, the procedure was interrupted pending the verifications of the Anac, the outcome of which was announced in recent days. And if on the one hand the Municipality was criticized for not having verified the effective execution of the “extraordinary maintenance interventions for 250 thousand euros a year”, which according to the ANAC are borne by the Juventus club, on the other hand it urged to proceed, sanitary emergency permitting, with the development of the plant. “And that’s what we will do,” assures Fontanini.

The 2.0 stadium project envisaged the construction of a polyclinic (developed over 4 thousand square meters) specialized in the rehabilitation and diagnostics of pathologies and traumas related to sports practice, a conference center, a swimming pool (25 meters long and 1.5 meters deep). to a smaller one for hydrobike), the sports museum and a brewery with the aim of making the Rizzi stadium live 365 days a year. The new UdineseTv studios, warehouses, spaces for the music school (wanted by the Honsell administration) and, as mentioned, for the crèche and nursery were also planned, requested instead by the Fontanini junta, which will be located between the curve north and distinct. On the third level of the Dacia Arena, on the other hand, the congress area was to rise (above the north curve), a bar-restaurant with a view of the field that will overlook the distinct sector, a co-working area, the Coni offices and the sports museum Friulian which, according to the agreement, was destined to enter the network of civic museums in the city.

It is difficult to imagine when, and if, the project will actually be able to restart, but in the event that, as desired by Fontanini himself, the Municipality and Udinese (which have not yet had official contacts) should find an agreement, the Friuli stadium could become the home of sport and free time.
