There was a fire alarm on Wednesday evening in the Auster, the municipal indoor pool in Eggenberg. The automatic fire system had triggered, and several fire engines from the professional fire brigade were on their way. The fire was quickly localized on site in a technical room in the basement, and extinguishing work began immediately.
Although the fire brigade was able to limit the fire to the technical room, the decision was made to evacuate the building. “The cooperation between the fire brigade, the Red Cross and the police worked smoothly,” was the balance sheet afterwards. The indoor pool and the wellness area were cleared, nobody was hurt.
The challenge for the emergency services was to get the smoke out of the area affected by the fire. Additional special forces had to be requested for the extraction. A total of 26 firefighters with six vehicles were deployed.
