There are two confirmed victims of the avalanche that broke out this morning in Val Formazza. Rescuers identified the bodies of the two ski mountaineers: one was extracted from the snow, the second was located in Lake Toggia. Rescue operations are underway to recover the body. Operations were made difficult by bad weather. Rescuers intervened later the report of an avalanche and two people involved. The avalanche broke off around midday in the upper Formazza Valley, in the province of Verbano Cusio Ossola between Toggia and Passo San Giacomo. The Alpine Rescue Service intervened, with great difficulty in getting the helicopter over due to the weather conditions.
