Bad weather: orange alert in Valchiusella, yellow in Valle Orco

Canavese valleys are under special surveillance by civil protection which invites citizens to avoid underground rooms and underpasses

CROSSBAR. The functional center of the Piedmont Region has issued an orange alert (code 2, moderate criticality) regarding the territory of the metropolitan city for Valchiusella and the northern plain; on yellow alert (code 1, ordinary attention) the Turin plains and hills, Valli Orco, Lanzo, lower Val Susa and Sangone. The basins of other provinces are also on orange alert: those of Sesia, Cervo, Tanaro, Scrivia and on red alert Toce, Belbo, Bormida.

The rains will intensify in the metropolitan area on the afternoon of Monday 4 October with attenuation in the morning of tomorrow.

Flooding is possible in all areas affected by the orange alert, local flooding; just as landslides and slope phenomena are possible throughout the territory.

The Metropolitan City monitors the situation.

Overall, the situation requires citizens to be extremely cautious, even for intense phenomena in the neighboring provinces.

Metropolitan Civil Protection invites to:

– limit transfers to the minimum necessary

– avoid underpasses;

– remove cars from underground car parks and park them safely before the rains intensify

– similarly, do not stop in the underground rooms and remove what must be stored in a dry place when it is not raining

– Citizens in the highest risk areas are invited to follow the media to keep up to date on the evolution of the situation and to follow the instructions of their Mayors, to whom any critical issues must be communicated
