The representative of Bahía Solano, Carlos Cardona, denounced that there are serious deficiencies and deterioration of the Child Development Centers, CDI, in the municipality and that he has already informed the competent entities about this irregularity.
The Child Development Centers, CDI, seek to guarantee initial education, care and nutrition for boys and girls under 5 years of age, as well as carrying out efforts to promote the rights to health, protection and participation, which allow them to promote their comprehensive development. .
The infrastructure of the Bahía Solano CDIs lacks general maintenance; there are walls that have cracks, as do the floors. Some rooms have poor ventilation and lighting.
In the CDI Utria 1 of the El Valle district, boys and girls are at imminent risk of suffering an accident, due to the poor condition of the facilities, since maintenance has not been carried out for many years.
In addition, the CDIs lack the necessary equipment to provide a good service, there is a lack of mats, there are classrooms that only have three mats in fair condition to serve 24 boys and girls at one level. There is a lack of teaching and pedagogical material.
Based on all the findings, the municipal official sent a request to the Colombian Institute of Family Welfare and the Administrative Department of the Presidency to adopt the necessary measures and ensure that investments are made and the necessary adaptations to the facilities of said CDIs, and that the operators also fully comply with their obligations and proceed to provide the CDIs in their charge with the necessary and sufficient implements so that care for early childhood is provided effectively and in accordance with the established parameters.
It is necessary that the national government provide support to the territorial entity with the allocation of economic resources to improve the CDI, that the possibility of constructing a CDI in Ciudad Mutis, municipal seat of Bahía Solano, be studied that meets the requirements and standards required by law for its operation.
